Prince Edward County

This peninsula of Ontario into Lake Ontario is known for its mild climate and wines. It was suggested that we went to Lake on the Mountain. This is the largest of several small lakes that are remnants from when Lake Ontario was much larger, just after the glacial retreat, before Canada rebounded, so the lake is sixty metres above Lake Ontario.

You can see how close they are, as the next picture is of Lake Ontario from lake on the mountain.

The local village was obviously for tourists, but I liked this shop with its old truck.

Our need for a walk hadn’t been satisfied, as there weren’t any trails, so we went to one of the many beach parks on the island, and walked the Cedar Dunes trail which wandered through the marshland and dunes behind the beach.
