Antipodes Islands

These are most easterly of the New Zealand sub Antarctic islands that we’re visiting. The visibility was poor.

But they decided to take us out anyway.

As we went towards the islands, they came out of the mist.

And there were penguins! Erect crested penguins, to be exact. The pink stuff is krill (they feed on krill), and the chicks are pink because they haven’t swum.

And fur seals.

The scenery was magnificent.

There were lots of sea birds and kelp.

We also saw some of the antipodes island parakeets flying around, but I couldn’t photograph them.
