Dunedin Botanical Gardens

Today I walked all the way to the Dunedin botanical gardens, walked around the gardens, and then walked all the way back to my accommodation. These are another of the six star gardens of New Zealand, and I think they are quite superior - unless you’re walking around them. There is a flat lower garden, and a precipitous upper garden - not for the faint hearted!

I started my perambulations at the rose garden, which was next to a lovely conservatory.

I then followed the volcanic path, which was probably the worst thing in the gardens - a sign was missing, and moss and weeds were growing over several of the rock formations highlighted in the path. It also went from the bottom of the gardens (it started at the first rocks formed by the Dunedin volcano), and ended at the top (the final rock formation), so it was rather steep. However, it encouraged me to visit everything, which was excellent.

On my way back to where I’m staying, I walked through the Otago University, which was very pleasant.
