Ulva Island and Stewart Island

This morning we arrived early at Paterson Inlet in Stewart Island, and anchored halfway between Ulva Island and the town of Oban on Stewart Island.

Ulva Island is pest free, but, as there are rats on Stewart Island, and as rats can swim 100 metres and take a trip on some kelp, they continue to monitor the island for rats.

We had a guided tour of Ulva island and saw a lot of birds and forest.

We then went to Oban, via the lookout.

At lunchtime we left the islands to sail to Milford Sound. We saw some of the southern coastline of the South Island.
