Cambridge Bay

Today we travelled north to Yellowknife, then further north to Cambridge Bay where we met the ship.

Cambridge Bay was similar to other Arctic settlements I’ve visited in Canada. The buildings weren’t as colourful as they are in Greenland, and it’s a tough remote life. We arrived to the news of the death of the Queen, and the police had their flag at half mast.

The people welcomed us and gave us salmon chowder and musk ox burgers, then took us on a tour of the settlement. There were lots of interesting displays. We went into the old church and I took a photo of a stained glass window. There was a beautiful tapestry woven from musk ox wool
