Protected Forests

Just a few metres from the hotel we were staying at in Zapallar is the entrance to a protected forest. The road from the entrance to the start of the trail is long and steep, and at times I thought the bus might not make it further up. We walked along trails through thick forest.

I was rewarded with seeing two lizards on a log.

Two thirds of the way along,  there was an opening with a cross with Jesus. Of course, this overlooked the town.

There was even a seat.

We could look down and see the two green buildings of the hotel where we stayed.

We went further south along the coast to the town with a long beach where we had lunch.

Then we went inland to the protected forest visited by Charles Darwin where the Chilean palm grows abundantly. We walked along a valley surrounded by hills.
