Bell and Cabot

Alexander Graham Bell is more commonly associated with the telephone than flight or water speed records, but they were very important to him. He started out assisting the deaf to speak, and most of his work was associated with that, but he was the father of Canadian aviation, and his water craft (the wooden is the original that has been put back together, while the grey one is a reconstruction) held the water speed record in 1917. He had a fascination with box kites in triangular shapes, which reminded me of the box kite dad made when we were little.

I saw the lake for the last time as I started the Cabot Trail.

This road runs around the north east peninsula of Cape Breton Island, and is one of the famous scenic drives of the world.

This is the scene from my window in Cheticamp.
