Makkovik

One of the ferry passengers is leading a tour of this area in a week. They using the ferry, and it will be full. So this week he is travelling on the ferry to visit all the communities to see what’s at each place. At Makkovik, Joan met us at the boat and took us to the White Elephant museum, the church and the craft shop.

As we rounded the inlet to go out to sea again there was an iceberg in the distance.

When we came back, Joan met us at the boat again and we went along the boardwalk that’s on the ridge above the town.

As we came to the end of it, I noticed a lake that’s behind the town and has a sandy beach that they use for swimming.

We also visited the hockey rink and the school.

On the way to Rigolet some of the passengers pointed out a rocky place where the surf was pounding. All three of them had lived in a village there when they were young.
